Vista “Black Screen of Death”

by ScottGeek 5. January 2010 13:30

Oddly enough, yes indeed I have ran across this on my last remaining Vista PC. I thought at first my Vid card was either over heating or going out… but nope. I started to notice this around the holidays after I would RDC (Remote Desktop Client) into the Vista PC upstairs… and like everyone else I didn’t think much about it until I listened to Paul and Leo mention it in their Podcast… Well, Paul and Leo- it does happen (so pretending that it’s a non-issue… yeah not very helpful guys).

Anyway, don’t know what the issue is… but I get a dead screen… strange enough with the Black Screen (which is actually no vid signal to my monitor) I can still RDC into the PC and Windows is up and running. Personally, if I were to guess… I suspect this maybe a Driver issue with the video card (it’s some kind of NVidia flavor). Maybe, I’ll roll back the latest Driver and see if the problem goes away.
